Vision On

It seems AGES since I last posted- I’ve been very busy this week with university work, as well as practicing for the UCLan comedy revue (which I am very excited about, even just for the fact that we’re using something that I’ve written! It’s not that funny, but still…). I was in Liverpool on Wednesday too, getting some photos and information for some work. Anyway, because of this, I haven’t really been able to have time to write a decent blog post. Continue reading

Review- ‘Valentina’ by The Wedding Present

I’m doing a slightly different format of writing today. For a special, I’m going to review The Wedding Present’s latest album, ‘Valentina’, which I bought today (the day of release), about an hour and a half ago as I write this, from Action Records. I’ve heard nothing from it prior to this, so I see this as a challenge. Same reviewing rules apply. I’ve got until the song finishes to talk about it…actually, that’s hard. Make it 2 plays. Woooooo! (Yes, it’s about wrestling. Bear with me)

Hi again everyone. I’m going to break my usual cycle of ramblings/music/football-based tedium by talking about something else. Mainly just as an excuse to make a post, and to do some doodles. Bear with me though- there’s some opinions in here, and you never know, you might enjoy it. Here we go… Continue reading

Get The Girl, Kill The Baddies!

To begin with- 10 points for whoever gets the reference in the title. Like anyone who was brought up in the 1990s and early 2000s, I like video games. However, I have a very love/hate attitude to them for several reasons. I never sure what I’d ‘classify’ myself as in terms of video games- I’m not quite ‘casual gamer’, nor am I really a ‘retro gamer’. But I’m going to talk about games- stuff I like, stuff that annoys me.

Cinemagique

I like films. I’ll just say that as a statement now. I also quite like the cinema. I’ll also just say that too. I remember going to the cinema quite a lot as a child, but then having a fairly barren period where I didn’t go, other than the very rare occurance. However, over the last couple of years I’ve started going again, quite often. Continue reading

Home Taping Is Killing Music

I’m the sort of person who likes making playlists and mixes. If I’m going somewhere which demands my iPod will be in large use, I will take at least an hour or two to create a playlist that would last several hours- essentially so I can just put it on shuffle and back in my pocket without any fear of genre clashes that can often ruin a decent song sequence. Blur Re-Evaluation Day

I’ve had one of the most tiring weeks I’ve had in quite a while. We’ve been rehearsing, and then performing ‘DNA’ by Dennis Kelly (which has been going REALLY well), on top of which I’ve had dissertation interviews, trips to the doctors and a brief respite when my parents came to visit me earlier in the week, which was nice. But today I’m going to talk about music- a certain band in particular. Continue reading
