All being well, I’m moving back out of my parents’ place in just over a week. Which means that I should really start sorting things out, such as what will accompany me back over to Preston, what stays at home, and what (if anything) is destined for charity shops and/or skips.
As such, after spending a long time earlier in the week sorting out various books, CDs etc, I thought that maybe, just maybe, it’s not a bad idea to try and get rid of some stuff. So after a long period of being hypnotised/slowly broken down by the constant adverts on daytime TV for musicMagpie- a website who offer cash to take old music/DVDs/videogames/crockery off your hands- a bit like rag-and-bone men (ask yer gran) for the digital age. Anyway, I thought I’d give it a try- I’ve never used things like this before, usually I either give things away, or trade them for others. So in a first attempt, I chose a few albums at random and scanned them in…
Yeah, that is how much they offered me. Just under £11.50 for 18 albums, regardless of rarity, age or (I know it’s nothing to do with them, but still) pop music importance. Needless to say, I won’t be using their service. I can see how they could be useful, say to get rid of a huge amount, but it’s not worth trying to get rid of a couple.
In other news, I undertook the ultimate consumer rite of passage today, and did a furniture shop at Ikea. As much of a uncultured unmodern statement this is, but it’s the first time I’ve been in one. It was pretty awesome.
However, because I’m not totally sure of the room dimensions, I didn’t buy what I originally intended- a bookcase and a small shelving unit- these will be purchased at a later date. Instead, I’ve come out with a rather nice LP box, a half-decent (but cheap) lamp and a few other little bits and pieces that will no doubt come in handy. I’m happy with this, but this will mean that I’ll have to make a return visit once I’m back over to the North West of England.
In even more other news……nope, that’s it. Sorry, but I’ve got nothing else. Nothing even vaguely interesting has happened, so much so I can’t even pad this post out. Instead, here are a selection of doodles. Please enjoy.
